NCLC Pastor’s Corner
It’s May! It seems impossible that there are only seven more weeks of school until summer! As the days get warmer and the flowers come out, I am sure we will all want to be outside as much as possible enjoying the new life God brings every year.
Last month we celebrated Jesus’ victory over sin and death after He was resurrected from the dead. We learned that Jesus was seen by over 5,000 people after he arose from the dead. It is incredible to me that God came to earth as a man and died because there is no other way for me to have a relationship with Him. God wants a relationship with me! What amazing love! As you go about your lives this month, remember that God loves you.
Bible Story Themes:
The Toddler 1 group will be learning that Jesus loves families and children and that Jesus loves everyone. Jesus even loves us each individually and knows us by name. T-1s will also learn that God cares for them when they are waking up. Toddler 2’s through Kindergarteners will be learning that God promised that He would always be with us. So, when Jesus went to heaven, God sent the Holy Spirit to be with us. They will also hear how Paul one of the enemies of those who love Jesus came to know and love God! Toddler 2 through Pre-K will learn how the Apostle Paul escaped from Damascus in a basket! Kindergarteners will hear one of the stories Jesus told about the Prodigal Son. Toddler 2 and Preschoolers will hear how Paul traveled all over telling people about Jesus, but some people put him and his friend Silas in prison, but God got them out! Pre-K through Kindergarten will hear another parable of Jesus called the lost lamb.
Your child will be bringing home pictures they have colored and possibly a craft project relating to the story they have heard. Please ask them about the story. It will help them remember.
Chapel: This month we will be having chapel in the Fellowship Hall May 17 (T1 through Preschool) and 18th (Pre-K through K) at 9:30am. We would love for you to come if you can.
A Request: If there are any changes in your family, please let me know. Changes in the family, even the loss of a well-loved pet, can deeply affect a child. We would like to be aware so that we can help your child through this difficult time. And, I would like to pray for you and your child and help you in any way that I or Community Chapel can help.
If you have any questions about my role at NCLC, the Bible curriculum, helping your child develop his/her relationship with God, or any family concerns, please call me at NCLC, 603-883-4356 or send email to pastorshirley@community-chapel.org .

Nancy’s Notes
This month I brought in my beanie baby teddy bears, and I taught the children the very easy beginnings of a waltz step to the song, “Dancing with Teddy.” Because the teddy bears were so popular, the children did not want to return them quite yet after one song, so we turned other songs into teddy bear songs. Instead of “Rocketship to the moon!” it was “Teddy bear to the moon!” Instead of “Trot Old Joe”, it was “Trot old Teddy,” while we bounced the teddy bears on our laps.
We have also been having fun with the song, “John the Rabbit,” which is a singing story/game. I play the farmer who is pretending to “scold” the rabbit for jumping in my garden and eating my carrots, cabbage, etc. The children are the rabbits, and at the end of each phrase they sing, “Yes m’am” and take two bunny hops towards me on the beat of the music. This game teaches so many skills: singing on the resting tone of the song (the note that is the “key” of the song), hopping to the beat of the music, social awareness (“where am I in relation to the rest of the bunnies?” – they have to move together), executive functioning (taking just two bunny hops and stopping to wait for the next part in the song where they hop.) It is also a lot of fun!
Next month we will continue with more spring songs, and we will be playing some more musical parachute and ball games.
Happy Singing!
Nancy
