Please send in adequate winter clothing (boots, hats, snow pants & mittens) for your children. We feel that a few minutes of fresh air is a nice change from being inside all day. Morning only classes do not go outside for recess unless your child’s teacher requests snow gear.

kid writingDear Parents

All children except for morning only and 9:00am – 2:00pm students must be signed in at arrival and signed out at departure in the attendance book in the school lobby each day. Also, please make sure a staff member acknowledges your child at drop off.

If your child will be absent on any given day, please call the office. There is no tuition credit for absences.

Security Measures

Although we have a security system in place and an Emergency Response Plan to follow we are always taking steps for better protection in the event of an emergency.
Please do your part! Our security system prevents unauthorized access if it is used correctly. Do not let anyone in behind you unless you are sure that person is allowed access. A parent or guardian without a key should use their cell phone to call the school and a staff member will let them in.

Sick Policy

Please review our sick policy on pages 13 and 14 of your parent handbook. For the protection of all children and staff, your child should be kept home for 24 hours after the last symptom is shown. (Please refer to symptoms on pages 13 & 14)

kids in seatbeltNew Hampshire Car and Booster Seat Laws

In New Hampshire, a child must be in a child restraint:

As of January 1, 2014, New Hampshire law (RSA 265:107-a) requires that children ride in an appropriate child safety seat until they are 7 years old or 57 inches tall (whichever comes first). Using a child safety seat with a harness or a booster seat will meet this requirement. Parents must buckle each child’s seatbelt before leaving the curbside.

I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Even though I am sure you were very busy with all the shopping and gatherings of family and friends, I hope you took time to think about the greatest gift God gave us. God gave Himself to us in human form as Jesus Christ. He came to show us how much He loves us and wants a relationship with us. So, as you plan and get started in this New Year remember that God loves you.

Please continue to ask your children about the Bible papers and crafts they bring home. It will help them to remember. They are also learning Bible verses and songs. I am sure they would love to tell you or sing for you.

Coming Up in February: 2 events to look forward to:

  • Building Block Family Fun Day (hosted by Community Chapel)- February 4th (Snow Date – February 11th), from 1:30-3:30, in the Fellowship Hall at the church – we are going to have so much fun! There will be lots of activities – games, crafts, snacks! Please come!
  • Chapel – February 7th and 8th from 9:30-10:00 in the church Sanctuary

A Request: If there are any changes in your family, please let me know. Changes in the family, even the loss of a well-loved pet, can deeply affect a child. We would like to be aware so that we can help your child through this difficult time. And, I would like to pray for you and your child and help you in any way that I or Community Chapel can help.

If you have any questions about my role at NCLC, the Bible curriculum, helping your child develop his/her relationship with God, or any family concerns, please call me at NCLC, 603-883-4356.

Lego Family Fun Day

musical noteNancy’s Notes

Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf and our favorite Jack Frost have visited our music classes during the month of December. We had lots of fun with my red wristband jingle bells, and of course we sang that song as well! One of our favorite activities was doing our own version of a dance to the “Russian Dance” from the Nutcracker. The piece starts with a loud chord played by the orchestra, accompanied by a loud drum. I asked the children to listen for that loud chord throughout the piece, and when they hear it to jump as high as they can. It was so much fun to watch their faces as they listened and anticipated the jumps, and after we had done it a few times, the older children were able to anticipate where the jumps should go ahead of time. In between the jumps, we ran with “ballet arms” on our tippy toes. Another favorite was making angel wings out of our silk scarves, and “flying” to “Angels We Have Heard on High.”

In January and February I will be bringing in some orchestral instruments for an instrument “petting zoo” (I will play a song or two, and let them try the instrument.) My own daughter was introduced to the violin this way at age 3 and now is an accomplished violinist at age 20, so you never know who might be next!
I hope you all have a wonderful vacation with your little ones, and that you take this holiday opportunity to make some music with them at home.

Happy New Year!
Nancy
