It’s May! It seems impossible that there are only six more weeks of school until summer! As the days get warmer and the flowers come out, I am sure we will all want to be outside as much as possible enjoying the new life God brings every year.

Last month we celebrated Jesus’ victory over sin and death at Easter. It is incredible to me that God came to earth as a man and died because there is no other way for me to have a relationship with Him. God wants a relationship with me! What amazing love! As you go about your lives this month, remember that God loves you.

Before Easter, I had an opportunity to go into the Kindergarten room and tell the children the story of Benjamin’s Box. Each child got a box and things to help them remember Easter that Benjamin picked up as he experienced the first Easter. I hope your child had an opportunity to share that with you. If you would like a list of the events each item connected to, let me know I’ll get it to you.

Please continue to ask your child about the pictures and craft projects they will be bringing home, pictures relating to the Bible stories they have heard. It will help them remember. They are also learning Bible verses and songs they might want to tell you about or sing for you.

Chapel: This month we will be having chapel in the Fellowship Hall May 23 and 24 at 9:30am. We would love for you to come if you can.

A Request: If there are any changes in your family, please let me know. Changes in the family, even the loss of a well-loved pet, can deeply affect a child. We would like to be aware so that we can help your child through this difficult time. And, I would like to pray for you and your child and help you in any way that I or Community Chapel can help.

If you have any questions about my role at NCLC, helping your child develop his/her relationship with God, or any family concerns, please call me at NCLC, 603-883-4356 or send email to pastorshirley@community-chapel.org .

musical noteNancy’s Notes

In music class this month, we had lots of fun with the parachute. We practiced lifting it up and down, side to side to the beat of the music. When the children were able to do this successfully as a group, I added a ball to the activity. We played a game of “see how long we can keep the ball on the parachute without it falling off” to the song, “Pop Goes the Weasel”.

I brought back one of the all-time favorites of NCLC kids, “John the Rabbit,” this April. In this song, I play the farmer pretending to scold the rabbits for jumping in my garden and eating my carrots, etc., and the children are the bunny rabbits. This song teaches them so many things – they have to listen for the part of the song where they hop on the beat towards me, they learn to keep together as a group, and they learn to sing on the “resting tone” of the song (also known as the “tonic” or the “key” that the song is in). Ask your child about it, and you may have them directing the entire family to play this game!

Happy Singing! Nancy
