Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Nashua Child Learning Center. We appreciate your co-operation with our first few days of school.
Classes are well underway and the children are adjusting to their new schedules. We consider it a privilege to have your children and enjoy watching them grow through various stages of development.
We want to keep you aware of the happenings at NCLC therefore a newsletter will be sent home at the beginning of each month. Please take time to read the important notices in these monthly newsletters. Also, please keep your family handbook handy during the school year as a reference guide and pay special attention to the school calendar.
We would greatly appreciate it if you would return the snow day survey that is attached to this newsletter.
You are free to visit our classes or call the office with questions or concerns. Please keep us informed of any changes in your child’s behavior or home routine. It is vital that we work together for the benefit of the children.
Thank you for sharing your children with us. We look forward to a rewarding and exciting year.
Sincerely,
Maria E. Donati
Director
Important Reminders
- Payment Schedule and Late Fees
Please review our policy regarding tuition payments on pages 8 of your family handbook. If payment is late there will be a $25.00 late fee. This policy will be strictly enforced. - Returned Checks
Checks returned for insufficient funds will be returned and cash payment will be required. You will be charged $40 for service fees for each returned check. - Morning students – Tuition payments are due on the first school day of the month.
Child Care students – Tuition payments are due on the first school day of the week for the week coming. - Please, please, please write your child’s name in the “memo” area of your check. We have several children with the same last name and some whose names are different from their parents. Also, indicate the week you are paying for. This allows us to verify our records with yours.
- Security Cards
Additional security cards are available for purchase in the school office. There are also forms near the sign-in table in the school lobby. $5.00 must accompany your completed form.
*You must have your pass card with you at all times to enter the building. - Office hours – Christine Hagerty our Administrative Assistant is available Monday thru Friday during the hours of 9:30am – 5:30pm for billing information.
- Notes from teachers of AM students and 9:00-2:00 students – Please pass any notes or checks to the teachers in carpool. It is not the teacher’s responsibility to check the backpacks each day.
- Carpool
Carpool will start at the NCLC entrance. Your child must sit on the passenger side of your car so that unloading can be done curbside. Parents, you are responsible for securing your child’s seatbelt at pick-up. Please stay in carpool line. Do not park your car and cross the lot to get your child. If your child sees you they may run out to meet you. Please continue to display your child’s name in your windshield. It helps carpool move faster. - All Child Care Parents
Please do not park your car curbside or in the handicapped spaces. You must park your car in a parking space and take your keys with you. Please do not leave your car running. - Sign-in book
All child care children must be signed in and out every day with time of arrival and departure. This sign-in/out procedure is a State of New Hampshire Child Care Licensing regulation that we must follow. Please sign your name in the appropriate box at the end of the week. - Pick-up
A note must be given to your child’s teacher if someone other than yourself will be picking up your child. This person must be able to supply a state issued documentation of their identity (a driver’s license). It is just as important for us to know if there are certain persons who must never pick up your child. If custody is a concern you must give us a legal document that specifies so. - Late Pick-Up (after hours)
We close promptly at 5:30pm therefore we expect all children to be picked-up by 5:30pm. A late pick-up fee will be charged if children remain in the center past 5:30pm. The fee is $1.00 per minute per child for each minute after 5:30pm. This policy will be strictly enforced. - Emergency Info
Please keep the office updated on any changes in phone numbers and emergency info. - Labels
As stated in your handbook, “all clothing and personal items must be labeled. It is very difficult to keep track of backpacks and belongings when there are no names on them. All bedding for child care children must be taken home and laundered every Friday. Our cubbies are small so please send a child size fitted sheet, one small blanket and a small pillow. - Peanut Allergies – Due to severe peanut allergies please refrain from bringing foods containing peanuts.
- Menus – School snack and lunch menus are available in the school lobby for parents to take home.

NCLC Pastor’s Corner
Welcome to a new school year at NCLC! I hope you had a great summer and come to a new school year refreshed and renewed! As Pastor of NCLC and with all the staff at NCLC, I would like to help you and your child have the best learning and growing experience here at NCLC.
Part of learning and growing is developing your relationship with God. As we did last year, in addition to the normal curriculum, your child will be learning about God in a weekly Bible story. This year the children will be having at least one Bible story per week with a follow up activity at another time during the week. During the month of September, all NCLC students will learn that God created the world, everything in it, and even us! Progressive PreK and Kindergarten will learn that because He loves us, God created a beautiful garden for Adam and Eve to live in and that God walked with them in the garden; because He loves us, He forgives us when we do wrong things. The teachers will have more information in the notes they send home to you. Please ask them about the Bible story. It will help them remember.
NCLC Students will also learn a new Bible verse and song every month. This month the Bible verse will be about God creating everything. We will be singing, “He’s got the whole world in His hands. We will also be singing a couple of other songs to go along with God creating the world and us.
From time to time I will be putting information in the children’s folders about activities at Community Chapel I think they might enjoy. This week, I invited you to the Family Harvest Day from 1 to 4pm at Greeley Park on Saturday, Sept. 9th. The half-sheet also contains information about a coffee and breakfast treat time on Sunday, September 10th at 9am, followed by church at 10:30 if you would like to come. Also during this month, I will be putting in their folders a little bag of information about the programs and activities at the church for the whole family.
I also have a favor to ask of you. If there are any changes in your family, please let us know. A new baby, death of a grandparent, absence of a parent or sibling for an extended period of time, or even the death of a beloved pet can have a big effect on a child. We would like to know so that we can support your child and the rest of your family through this time
If you have any questions about my role at NCLC, the Bible curriculum, helping your child develop his/her relationship with God, or any family concerns, please call me at NCLC, 603-883-4356 or send email to PastorShirley@community-chapel.org .
Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your child’s life.
Pastor Shirley (Kaltenbach)

Nancy’s Notes
Dear Parents,
I am so looking forward to singing and dancing with your children again! I really miss them over the summer. My goal for this year is to provide them with a fun, developmentally-appropriate music and movement experience, while incorporating the pedagogical elements considered to be the most beneficial for teaching young children the “language” of music. Once they have a firm foundation in learning this language, it is much easier for them to learn to play an instrument once they start school, and most of them will be able to sing in tune by the time they go to kindergarten.
Over the course of the year, we will be learning the difference between our speaking voice and our singing voice, how to use our singing voice to make “high” and “low” notes, how to play different kinds of rhythm instruments – egg shakers, rhythm sticks, jingle bells, drums, kitchen “instruments”, etc. to match the beat of the music, and how to move our bodies to the beat of the music. Our movement activities include moving and dancing with silk dancing scarves and rainbow streamers, moving together as a unit with the help of my giant rainbow rope, playing marching band, making a train go slow and fast around the room, rolling balls to one another, playing musical parachute, and simply using our bodies for jumping and dancing to the music.
In next month’s newsletter, I will list some of the songs we will be using this year and where you can purchase them, if you would like to join in the musical fun at home.
Happy Singing!
Nancy
