A Teacher’s Heart

A teacher’s heart has many rooms.
Each needs a different key.
Love and caring unbolt some compartments.
Faith and prayer find a way into others.
Patience and compassion pick the locks
Of tightly shuttered windows,
Letting in the light of hope and encouragement.
Only then can lives be changed; teachers’ and students’,
Forever.

School Vacation Week

2015-02-3February 23rd – February 27th
(NCLC Open for Child Care only)
For staffing purposes we must know if your child will attend child care during February vacation. Please use the sign-up sheet on the desk in the school lobby and indicate your needs by circling “YES” or “NO” by February 6th.

Please note:

  • Vacation benefit can only be used if you indicate “NO” for the entire week.
  • You are always responsible for your regular weekly tuition unless you take the entire week as your vacation benefit.
  • If you indicate “YES” by February 6th and your child does not attend you must pay regular tuition for that week.
  • If you fail to indicate your intentions we will assume that your child will be in attendance therefore you will be charged full tuition.

Outdoor Play

If it is necessary for your child to remain indoors for health reasons, we must have a note from his/her doctor. Outdoor play is a very important part of our curriculum. The outdoor environment is the very best place for young children to practice and master emerging physical skills.

I hope that you and your family have recovered from the holidays and all the snow we had this week and are settling into work and school again. I know I usually get settled in just in time for February vacation. Winter is such a great season! A lot of nature seems to sleep or just take a break. I hope you and your family have an opportunity to enjoy some times to take a break this winter and remember that God loves you.

Bible Story Themes: During the month of February, it seems everything on TV is about showing your love for someone by buying them something. Few seem to remember that God is not only the author of love, but God IS love. He came to earth as Jesus because He loves us. He wants a relationship with us because He loves us. So this month the weekly Bible stories will be about how much God loves us. The Toddler 1 group will be learning that God made our arms, hands, legs and feet, because He loves us. The Toddler 2 group through Kindergarten will be learning that God’s love is the best gift. And, because He loves us, Jesus can bring healing to people on the inside. Because He cares for us, Jesus can also calm a storm and feed 5,000 people from just a few loaves of bread and fish.
Your child will be bringing home pictures they have colored and possibly a craft project relating to the stories they have heard. Please ask them about the story. It will help them remember.

Chapel Dates and Times: Community Chapel pastors will have a 30 minute chapel for NCLC children on February 10th and 11th at 9:30 in the sanctuary at Community Chapel. Parents are welcome to attend.

A Request: If there are any changes in your family, please let me know. Changes in the family, even the loss of a well-loved pet, can deeply affect a child. We would like to be aware so that we can help your child through this difficult time. And, I would like to pray for you and your child and help you in any way that I or Community Chapel can help.

If you have any questions about my role at NCLC, the Bible curriculum, helping your child develop his/her relationship with God, or any family concerns, please call me at NCLC, 603-883-4356 or email at pastorshirley@community-chapel.org
