FYI – As a Christian school the primary focus and majority of activities in October are based on the season of fall and harvest. We refrain from activities related to Halloween – therefore you will see that your child’s classroom is celebrating the season with a Harvest party instead of a Halloween party.

Isn’t Fall great! As we see the leaves on the trees turning beautiful colors and lawns getting lush and green again after the summer heat, I always thank God that He gave us eyes to see and the ability to experience His beautiful world.
During the weekly Bible story and follow up activity this fall, the children will be learning about characters from the Old Testament part of the Bible. During the month of October, Pre-Kindergarten will learn how Abraham and Lot shared the land God had brought them to. Progressive Pre-K children and Kindergarteners will be learning about Isaac who fulfilled God’s promise and Joseph who was betrayed by his brothers and then saved his family. Kindergarten children and Toddler two children through Preschool will be learning how God protected Noah, his family and the animals in the biggest flood the world has ever seen. One year old children will be learning that God made everything including animals, plants, and even them.
Your child will be bringing home pictures they have colored and possibly a craft project relating to the stories they have heard. Please ask them about the story. It will help them remember.
Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions about my role at NCLC, the Bible curriculum, helping your child develop his/her relationship with God, or any family concerns, 603-883-4356.

musical noteNancy’s Notes

Dear Parents,
Did you know that ALL children are musical? Even if you don’t consider yourself or your family “musical”, the research shows that ALL children, regardless of their inborn aptitude, can learn to sing in tune and move to the beat of the music with correct rhythm, IF they are provided with a rich, developmentally-appropriate musical environment in the very early stages of childhood (birth to age 6.)
In September, our songs and rhythm chants were focused around the changing of the seasons. Some favorites were “Here is the Beehive (if your child came home buzzing like a bee, that’s why!},” “The Orchard,” and “I Love the Mountains.” This month we will continue with that theme and add in a few other favorites such as “Jack Frost,” “Trot Old Joe,” and “John the Rabbit.” If you wish to obtain these songs, instructions for doing so were listed in the September newsletter.
Happy Singing!

Nancy (Music & Creative Movement Teacher)
